Lacrosse is a entertaining sport I like to play. Ive only played for

seasons, but I caught on quick and was soon scoring goals. In lacrosse you

need to know the rules before you play, just like any oter sport or game, the

equipment, and different skills and techniques to handle the ball and stick.

In this essay I will teach you four basic dodges you can do while playing

lacrosse. There are four dodges that I like to do, face dodge, roll dodge, split

dodge and finally bull dodge, are simple dodges anyone can do with a little time

and practice. If one can master these then that person will be on their way to

scoring goals in no time.

First someone interrested in lacrosse needs to get the equipment to play

lacrosse. All of the equipment is a lacrosse stick, including the shaft and head,

shoulder pads, rib pads, elbow pads, gloves, helmet, and a mouth piece. For

someone who is just starting to play I recomend buying only a stick and possibly

gloves so you can feel how to handle the stick while wearing lacrosse gloves.

The reason someone just starting out shouldnt buy all the equipment is because

lacrosse equipment usually expensive and if that person doesnt like the sport

then they dont have all the equipment put to no use.

The face dodge is probably the easiest dodge to learn and is also very

effective. After catching the ball from a teammate, the defense man is usually

going to play man-to-man, which is where he is right on the player trying to get

the ball out of the stick. As he charges out at the person with the ball, which at

the time is in his right hand, that person winds up to take a shot or fakes a pass,

both are done by pulling you stick slightly behind your head. Instead of passing

or taking the shot the offensive player then pulls the stick across their face

tucking it by their opposite ear. After it is done successfully, the player holding

the ball accelerates past the defense man on his left side to an opening for a

shot on goal or a pass to another teammate. This type of dodge is the most

common used by lacrosse players.

The split dodge is similar to the face dodge but instead of making the

deffense man think that the player with the ball is going to pass or shoot the ball

they are going to make him think that the offensive player is running by him on

one side. First the player with the ball runs to the defense man and takes a fast

plant with their front foot and fake going that way. So if they have the ball in the

right hand they fast plant their right foot when they get to a defense man. Next

they switch their stick from their right hand to the left in front of their face and

while accelerating past the defense man on the left side.

The roll dodge is very effective for the quicker lacrosse player. On the way

to the goal a player is feeling that the defense man is playing one of their hands

more than the other, lets say the right hand. This means that the defensive

player is checking his right side more than the left. As they feel this pressure

they fast plant their right foot to the left, front side of the defense man and turn

their back to the defense man. While the player with the ball is in the spinning

motion the player tucks their stick in between their legs keeping the head of the

stick close to their chest or stomache area. Keeping the stick close prevents the

defense man from hitting a players stick and knocking the ball loose. During the

spin the player must switch hands midway through the spin hoping to catch him

off balance then proceed to turn around him. This quick change of direction

should free the offensive player enough to either draw a double team or allow a

good shot on goal. To confuse the defense man more try doing this fake a few

times on him, but instead of turning to the opposite side you fast plant on,

change directions up. Rather than than fast planting on the right foot and

spinning right, fast plant on the right foot and begin to turn right but in mid-spin

turn back to the left. This must be done as fast as possible in order to catch the

defense man off guard.

Bull dodge, as its name suggests is for a player that has a size or strength

advantage over the defense man. There is not too much to this dodge, but

getting in close to the defense man and basically running over him. When a

player has the ball and is attempting at a bull dodge, first they should pull the

stick in close to themself and then lower their shoulder and avoid contact with the

helmet. One should never hit someone else with their helmet becuase it can

cause serious head or neck injury. Once one has knocked down the defense

man move in for a shot on goal. If the bull dodge is successful, the player should

back off of the defense man quick then attept another dodge or just get rid of the

ball.

A few things to remember about all these dodges is that they must be

done at full speed in an actual game. Lacrosse is a fast sport. An offensive

player should not go half speed through them because this will give the defense

man time to catch up with the offensive player after the dodge. If they catch up

to the player with the ball then that gives more risk for them to lose the ball. If

one wants to get these dodges perfect they must practice at them starting slow

by themselves, just to get the footing and stick positions correct, then moving at

a faster pace and eventually playing against a defensive player.

It is evident that there were a lot of factors, which stopped the police from catching the Ripper. The nature of the killings meant it was for police to prevent them or catch the Ripper. This was not helped by the fact that their department was underdeveloped. The largest factors however, were the problems and errors, which occurred during the investigation. False information or leads meant police time was wasted, which prevented them from catching the ruthless Ripper.

She could have easily called, but was just too stubborn too, so now of course all of the blame is put on the guy's shoulders. Guys are not commitment shy, they are just terrified of the cruel things that will happen to them if they mess up. Girls are the complicated half, they cause boys hair-pulling agony.

Girls are always complaining about how boys wear their pants, how they do their hair, what cologne scent they are or are not wearing, what music they are listening to and a million other petty things such as these. Perfection is not enough for the girls these days. I could have a brand new shirt on, clean shoes, respectable jeans and think I look just fine. But, no… I forgot the backwards, light blue baseball cap and puka shell necklace, so it is not acceptable. You never hear guys complaining about how a girl is not wearing the right necklace or hair tie. That is because we have respect and are not extremely picky and obnoxious about every little detail. Boys will be boys; we cannot always remember to chew with our mouths closed or open every door. Girls never think that maybe the reason we cannot wait until our food is completely masticated to be able to talk to them, or that maybe we were too busy daydreaming about them to remember to open the door. We are not as bad as girls perceive us to be. Girls are all overly analytical, drama queens who will never be pleased. When I went to pick up the girl to go to the movie her mother sent me into the living room to find her sitting with a container of Midol next to her and a look of utter disgust on her face. I sympathetically asked her what was wrong and she belted out,

" I got a D on my midterm in Physics; my best friend ditched me earlier to hang out with her other friend, and my pedicure appointment was canceled! I look horrible, I feel horrible and my white pants have a gross green stain on them!"

So of course my job was to cheer her up- I wanted to run. All I could think about was my friends who were spending the night at a Pistons game, front and center. The night spent in the movie theatre watching that awful movie made me realize just how bad guys have it and how often girls take guys for granted. Is it not enough that we are at their beckon call at all hours of the day; sit through horrible chic flicks with them just because we care; console them after a bad day or buy them popcorn? Girls will never be understood, and this is the main reason why Hollywood will continue to produce clichmovies to give the female population something to relate to.

house. His brother ends up on a train with Aunt Maggie to live with her, and

Richard has to live with his Uncle Clark and Aunt Jodi. He hates his life their so

moves back in with his grandmother. Richard grows up having to work constantly

just to make a few bucks to help support his family; and when he can, he

moves back to Memphis. After working at an optical company for some time, he can

finally send for his mother, Aunt Maggie, and his brother. Richard and his Aunt

Maggie planned to move to Chicago and to send for his mother and brother soon

after.

Setting The setting of the novel is in the early 100s in the deep south of

America. Richard and his family lives everywhere from Arkansas to Memphis.

They had to deal with the racial issues that existed in the south during that

time in their struggle to survive.

get out of this place where they were born, and begin living up north. Their

common sense told them that all of what they were saying wasn't true, but it was

their hopes and dreams that were speaking when they talked of the equality

between blacks and whites.

Quotation # During our talk I made a hypothetical statement that summed up

my attitude toward God and the suffering in the world, a statement that

stemmed from my knowledge of life as I had lived, seen, felt, and suffered it in

terms of dread, fear, hunger, terror, and loneliness (Wright 115).

Significance # The south has been, and probably will always be, the most

religious part of America. People live and die by their religion, and it is a

way of life for nearly everyone who lives in it. Richard, however, cannot

understand why God is so worshipped when he is the one who is inflicting this cruel

life on him. It doesn't make sense to Richard why everyone constantly prays to

him, when they know their lives will only be filled with more suffering,

despite their prayers. This belief only outcasts Richard further away from

society, because not worshipping God is almost a criminal offense in the south.

deal with the racism and hate that flourished during that time period. Living in

a big city and then living in a small town developed his perspective in life,

George Frideric Handel

George Frideric Handel was born in Halle, Germany on February , 1685. His name was originally spelled Georg Friedrich Handel. Handel's sight became poor in 1751. By 175 he was completely blind. However, he continued to conduct performances of his works occasionally. On April 6, 175 Handel accompanied a performance of The Messiah on the organ for the final concert of the season. In the Yugoslavian revolution, Slobadan Milosevic was the unfair ruler. The people of Yugoslavia rose up against him because of a broken promise to have an election where the people could choose the next president, not the government. Milosevic figured that the election would win him the votes of the people, and another term in office. However, the majority of the votes went to the leader of the opposition, Vojislav Kostunica. Milosevic refused to stand down until there was a second ballot, claiming that Kostunica had not won by an outright majority. Kostunica had 48 percent of the votes, while Milosevic had 40 percent. The constitutional court said they would allow Milosevic to finish his term in office.

The Yugoslavian people did not stand for this unjust treatment from their President. The opposition gave Milosevic a deadline of 1500 hours on October 5, 000 to stand down. Kostunica supporters from all across Serbia closed in on the city of Belgrade. When 1500 hours came and went with no news of Milosevic's position or whereabouts, the crowds rioted. The parliament building was ransacked with parts of it being burned, and the formerly Milosevic-run television station was taken over, declaring Kostunica the new Serbian leader.

In France at the time of the Revolution, Louis XVI was not a very able ruler, and wouldn't get rid of the regulations and social structure of the Old Regime until it was too late. When Louis XVI came to power in 1774, France was very deep in debt and its people were suffering. Past rulers had spent large amounts of money on wars, and continued borrowing funds from the banks, with the National debt growing larger and larger by the minute. The Duma was appointed the provisional government, and while the majority of the people were glad to have Nicholas gone, the Duma had little support. Their power was limited by the Soviet, which was a workers and soldiers council. The Soviet demanded peace and demonstrations forced the foreign minister to resign. Lenin urged the Soviet to take power because it had a Bolshevik majority. On November 6, 117, Bolshevik workers captured government buildings and Winter Palace. The demonstration was almost bloodless, and it brought Lenin to power.

It is quite simple to see how a weak or foolish ruler can led to discontent and rebellion in society.
