JOSEF STALIN Born Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili to a modest home in Gori, Georgia, Joseph Stalin excelled as school, and went on to Orthodox Christian Studies, during which he would read illegal Karl Marx literature. In 18 he quit his religious studies and joined a revolutionary movement against the Russian monarchy. In 10 he joined the Vladimir Lenin's militant Bolshevik (Communist) faction after a split from the Social Democratic Labour Party. To him the Communists were "Russians and real men." During the 105 revolution, he organised terrorist attacks on police, and played a key role in planning crimes to help create an income for the Communist party. In 108 he was arrested and exiled for his illegal underground activities as a loyal follower of Lenin. He escaped, and more arrests and exiles followed, including being exiled to Siberia in 11 for revolutionary activities, such as his essay "Marxism and the National Question". Soon after this he changed his name to Stalin, meaning "Man of Steel". Stalin was released from exile with the overthrow of the Russian monarchy, and during the 117 revolution, he edited the Communist newspaper and had a minor part in helping to pick the Red Guards. After being put in charge of dealing with the minority groups in Russia, in 1 he was chosen as the General Secretary of the Communist Party. It was a modest profession, which Stalin managed to make powerful by 10. Stalin gained power by taking numerous jobs that no one wanted, and had become rude and aggressive, which seemed to lead to conflict with Lenin, who before his death wrote about his misgivings for Stalin, and a strong recommendation that he be removed from his position. When Lenin died in 14, Stalin led the mourning, unaware of Lenin's remarks. It is said that Stalin double-crossed his enemies, giving Trotsky, his political rival, the wrong funeral date, ensuring Trotsky couldn't attend. Stalin launched crafty political manoeuvring, enabling him to suppress Lenin's statement from the general public. Stalin formed a coalition with Lev Kamenev and Grigory Zinovyev, excluding Trotsky. Trotsky disapproved of Stalin over his wrong decision making during the Polish war in 10-1, when Stalin was a member of the Communist party decision making body, the Politburo. In 14 Trotsky and Stalin had a political fight over Trotsky's theory of 'Permanent Revolution'. Trotsky wanted to spread communism, and Stalin wanted to focus on the USSR. Stalin eventually drove out Trotsky, by holding votes and public meetings, and joining the Rightists, Bukharin, Rykov, and Tomsky. In 18 Trotsky was deported to Soviet Central Asia, and in 1 was exiled from the USSR. With Trotsky, Stalin turned against the Rightists, and opposed their policies, pushing for his own idea of expanded industry. The Rightists argued against him, but the Politburo supported Stalin, and at the start of 1 the Rightists resigned. Stalin had become the Supreme Leader. ¤ Please note that this sample paper on Stalin is for your review only. Araby

CHARACTERS

The Narrator a teenage boy, who has just developed feelings for a girl for the first

time. He wants to buy her a gift at Araby, which is an Arabian themed bazaar.

Uncle and Aunt The narrator is raised by the uncle and aunt. The uncle comes home

late the night of the bazaar, this is why narrator gets to bazaar only as

it closes.

Mangan The narrator's friend.

Mangan's sister The object of the narrator's affections.

SUMMARY

Like the first two stories in Dubliners, "Araby" is also in first person narrative. The narrator is a nameless boy, who is thought by some to be James Joyce when he was young. At the start of the book, it talks of the priest who died in their apartment before they lived there. The narrator is raised by his aunt and uncle, reasons as to why are unknown. One of his playmates is the boy who lives opposite, Mangan. The narrator develops a crush on Mangan's sister.

Eventually he manages to start a conversation with her, in which she talks about how she wants to go Arab but can't. The narrator says he will go for her and bring her something back.

In the following days, the narrator can only think of the girl, the bazaar and the gift he'll get her. The narrator is given permission to go and asks his uncle to be home on time so that he can get money for gifts and travelling. His uncle gets home late that night as he had forgotten, but the narrator goes to Araby anyway.

He arrives just as the bazaar is closing. Only a few stalls are open and he can't afford anything anyway. His night has been ruined.

ANALYSIS

This story deals mainly with longing for adventure and escape, though here this longing finds a focus in the object of the narrator's affections. The title "Araby", suggests escape as well due to the connotations with the Middle East, which symbolise decadence, sensuality and escapism. The narrator's desires for the girl become attached to his expectations for the bazaar and he is excited about the romantic gift he wants to purchase for her.

The key theme in "Araby" is frustration, as the narrator has to deal with situations which are not ideal scenarios for him. He has high expectations about the bazaar but as his uncle gets later and later, the narrator's frustration is mounting as he fears he will not be able to go at all. He does eventually get to the bazaar, but it is basically over. His whole fantasies about the bazaar and the amazing gift he will buy are shown to be exaggerated and ridiculous. The night did not live up to what he imagined it to be like, and when he hears people talk, it is with English accents, and what they talk of is unexciting and boring. It shows how the narrator is unable to escape the fact he is in Dublin and there is nowhere where he can even pretend he is not. The accents of the vendors also emphasise how Dublin in a colonised city. In the end it shows how it doesn't matter if the narrator was on time or not as he cannot afford to buy anything, which shows how we are all prisoners of our imagination and that reality is harsher than what you may imagine.

Destiny

Everithing that happens to us is based on our decisions

One of the reasons we think destiny doesnt exist is because everything is based on our desicions, you might think that if suddenly a meteor fell right on your head, your family or your friends might say it wasnt your fault but in fact it was your fault, not directly but it was somehow your fault, this is because you had to decide whether you went tthere or someplace else or you decided it was time to go there or you could have gone later.

We think that if you had chosen not to go to the place the meteor fell nothing would have happened,if something happens to you you dont have to blame anyone but yourself , if you fail a subject it was your fauklt because you decided not to study or not to do homework or something like that, if you get mugged or killed in the subway, it was your fault because you decided to use the subway instead of taking the bus or walking.

Lets pretend you go want to go to a holiday and you have two options, one is going for the weekend to Cuernavaca and the other is goning to NYC for weeks, i think everyone would rather have the second one, right? Well then you decide going on that trip but when you arrive there an H-bomb is dropped on NY and you get killed, on the ohter hand you could have gone to Cuernavacxa and nothing would have happened, so you see that anything taht happens in your life was because of something you had to decide if destiny existed well my class mate will explain that.don have opnePlease note that this sample paper on coke is for your review only. The Enclosure of Common Land

Enclosure entailed the fencing of common land with the eventual intention of cultivation by individual owners. The process occurred on three ways. Around Moelfre and on Mynydd Mechell illegal, piece-meal enclosure by squatter-colonisers took place. In Heneglwys in 180 and Llanfair Mathafarn Eithaf in 1815 land was voluntarily enclosed. Most of the countys common land however was enclosed by parliamentary legislation, and the map shows places thus enclosed, together with the acreages and the relevant dates.

The largest enclosure involved the reclamation of Malltraeth Marsh, consisting of salt marsh inundated periodically by high tides and used occasionally for grazing. The long and detailed Acts of 1788 and 170 gave the commissioners powers to raise money for building embankments and drainage channels, but these were so costly that the work stopped until 180, when some friends of improvement met at Beaumaris. The Bill they drew up became an Act in 1811 and there was also another Act much later in 185. More money was collected and by June 181 the Embankment, or Cob, was completed. Unfortunately, in October, a high tide and storm broke a temporary dam, so that in places the Cob itself was threatened. Hundreds of men and carts were called in, and the damage was repaired. Part of the river Cefni was canalised and its commercial use was actually envisaged in the Act of 1788. The rivers original meanders still exist on the west side of the marsh.

In all, ,000 acres were reclaimed and enclosed, and the map illustrates the geometrical pattern of the allotments. Agriculturally, the scheme was relatively unsuccessful. Poor drainage conditions, due to the absence of a sufficient strong seaward gradient, hampered farming activities from the outset. Communications, however, were greatly improved. Newborough became more accessible and the work of Telford and Stephenson was greatly facilitated.

Do my essay on Enclosure CHEAP !

The Act for enclosing land in Llandysilio and Llaneilian was passed in 1814. Much of the enclosed land in Llandysilio accomodated the new town of Menai Bridge. In Llaneilian 14 acres from mountain, marsh and turbary were enclosed. Fifty one allotments were made and one in the turbary was awarded to the poor. The field network created by the Llaneilian award is still evident, as the inset illustrates.

The 1815 Act for Newborough and Llangeinwen enclosed an area of salt marsh and sand dune. One hundred acres were allowed to the poor but as they could not pay their share of the costs the land was sold. The burgesses of Newborough were not compensated for the rabbit warren which had yielded them £ a year in rent. They now also had to pay for collecting marram grass and many had to be supported by the rates, which doubled in a few years.

In executing the enclosure acts, the commissioners created bridle paths, occupation roads and carriage roads. They also planned public quarries and wells. In the Llangefni award there was a public turbary as well as a public quarry, and at Rhos-y-gad a public pond and watering place.

The most extraordinary aspect to Andy Warhol's famous painting of Marilyn Monroe's face is how he forms his own version of her. Marilyn Monroe's face is very recognizable, and almost everyone knows what she looks like. Warhol succeeds in taking a famous face, and recreating it according to his own style.

The first thing I see when I look at this painting is large areas of colors. I see a green background, bright yellow hair, a pink face, green eye shadow, yellow eyes, red lips, a green mole, and a red area that appears to be her shirt. The second thing I see when I look at the poster again is black. I see black shading in the hair and around the face, black shading that creates the eyes, eyebrows and nose, black shading in the lips, and a black mole inside the green one.

Another thing I notice about this painting is how it gets smaller and more complex in the middle. The green background is large and has almost no detail to it. Then the large area of yellow hair has black shading that gives it movement and dimension. Next, the eyes, nose, and mouth are created within the pink heart-shaped face. Warhol uses black shading to create the eyebrows and eyes. He gives Marilyn green eye shadow and paints yellow in her inner eye. Her eyelids and eyelashes are thick, as if she is wearing black eyeliner and mascara. Her little nose is also created with black shading, and her mole consists of a black dot with a larger green dot imperfectly surrounding it. Her lips are full and seductive, and it looks as though Warhol outlined and colored her lips in with red paint, and then proceeded to shade them inside with black. He also shades a lot along the left side of her face, into her red blouse.

I notice how Warhol balances these two opposites, color and black, perhaps to highlight the two facets of Marilyn's life. The colors that he uses are not true to form, but it works regardless. No one really has hair that yellow, a face that pink, or lips that red. Also, it seems rare to wear green eye shadow that bright or have yellow eyes. The effect of this exaggeration of colors is that it makes Marilyn look cartoon-like, and almost not real. This represents Marilyn's public life. Externally, Marilyn led a glamorous life full of parties, celebrities, and wealth, but that was fake and overdone, just like the colors. Internally, however, her personal life was full of scandal, deceit, and heartache. This private side of Marilyn Monroe is evident through the black that forms her eyes. Though her lips do give off a sexy feeling, the shading and detailing around her eyes tell a deeper story. She looks sad and hurt, as if she is yearning for someone to help her. It is quite impressive how Warhol manages to accomplish that without losing his signature pop art style of bright colors and animated images.

Buy cheap Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe term paper

The message that I get from this piece is that nothing is ever what it seems. Warhol uses vivid colors and dark shading to emphasize this idea. The large areas of color symbolize a happy exterior. Things may seem to be wonderful and great on the outside, but when given a deeper look, everything has some black on the inside.

A Stranger is Watching

A Stranger is Watching

A Stranger is Watching is a terrific book. I enjoyed reading this book very much. The non-stop action kept me reading for hours.

One of the best features of the book is how it was written. The point of view changes every chapter. For example Chapter 1 is written in the point of view of the infamous Foxy character.Chapter is written in the point if view of our protagonist, Steve; and so on.I also liked how the author built the relationship of the characters up,so you care about what happens to them and feel like youre going through what they are going through. For instance, the author tells us of Steves wifes death. We find out that Steves son, Neil was never the same after this tragedy. When a new women,Sharon comes into Steves life,Neil rejects her.Neil thinks that if Sharon and his father get married ,his father will send him away. When Neil and Sharon are held hostage together, Neils feelings for Sharon change;he begins to see her as a nice person and a motherlike figure.I felt the author built this relationship up well so that the story would have a happy ending.

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on A stranger watching

I also like how the author made the character traits of the protagonist completely conflict with the antagonist. The protagonist,Steve is a successful man with a family and no problems;at least in the mind of the antagonist. The antagonist has problems with females,a career he feels is going nowhere, and a lack of good friends.throughout the story we find out that the antagonist is very jealous of the protagonists lifeand thats why he indirectly targets him. This contrast was an addition to the already excitng plot of the story..

In my opinion the best part of A Stranger is Watchingis the end, chapter 5.this chapter contains one of the greatest climaxes I ever read. The chapter begins at a frantic moment. All of the characters lives are at risk because Foxys bomb is about to go off. After a fight with Foxy,Steve manages to release Sharon and Neil.At the same time Ronald Thompson(a juvenile convicted if murder)is about to be executed for the murder of Steves wife,Nina.A few chapters earlier we find out that Nina is Foxys victim but he got off clean with it. Steve races out of Grand Central Station (where the bomb is going to go off)with Sharon and

Neil.At this point the author stops her narrative and begins with the time eleven forty-two,twelve minutes after the bomb goes off,at this point we dont know what happened to our characters. In this next paragraph we are informed that Steve,Neil ,and Sharon get away while Foxy dies from his own bomb.We also find out that Ronald Thompson is saved from his ex! ecution and released from prison.

I enjoyed this part of the story so much because it was the point of the highest excitement. Every event that took place in the story built up to this major event. All excitement in the story was covered at this point.I feel the climax is the best part of every story, and should be.This was definitely one of the best books

I have ever read.

SARS is a potentially dangerous respiratory infection that recently appeared in East Asia and has spread to close contacts, household members, and health care workers. SARS does not appear to be highly contagious when protective measures are used, and 0 percent of those whove contracted the disease have recovered. However some individuals, often those with underlying heart or lung disease, may develop more serious disease. Among the cases reported so far in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Canada, the death rate from this condition is -4%.

Symptoms usually show up within to 7 days of exposure. According to the WHO, SARS are infectious but appears to be less than the flu. The illness usually begins with a fever (measured temperature greater than 100.4°F [8.0°C]). The fever is sometimes associated with chills or other symptoms, including headache, general feeling of discomfort, and body aches. Some people also experience mild respiratory symptoms at the outset; dry cough, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties SARS may be associated with other symptoms, including headache, muscular stiffness, loss of appetite, malaise, confusion, rash, and diarrhea.

SARS appears to be spread primarily by direct close contact with an infected person. Someone who shares a household with a SARS patient or a health care worker who did not use infection control procedures while caring for a SARS patient is most at risk. Brief casual contact does not appear to spread the disease. Simple procedures like washing your hands frequently, especially if you think you may be exposed to an infected person, can dramatically reduce the risk of transmission.

If you are experiencing those symptoms, notify the emergency room, paramedics, triage nurse, or admission clerk that you think you may have SARS so they may take appropriate precautions. They will most likely evaluate you promptly and may ask you to wear a mask and stay in a private room until the evaluation is complete. Your health care provider will take the appropriate action to make certain youre treated in the right environment. To help your health care provider make a diagnosis, tell him or her about whether you were in contact with someone who had these symptoms. SARS patients are generally responding well to the treatments generally used for serious cases of pneumonia and other severe respiratory illnesses. Antibiotics appear to have little effect but not completely. No definitive test is available yet for SARS.

Custom Essays on Disease

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are working to develop research tests that appear to be very promising in detecting antibodies to the virus believed responsible for causing SARS, a new coronavirus. The major risk factors for contracting SARS are If you have recently traveled to one of several Asian countries, specifically Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Vietnam, or Toronto, Canada, or have been in close contact with a person who has traveled to these countries or who has had the disease then you are at potential risk.

Large number and variety of incidents; mixing of tears and laughter; gentle and violent passions.

Time and space used freely a sense of ongoing life behind the scenes.

Large range and number of characters; 0 is common; rich and poor, all individuals.

Varied language elegant, ribald, witty, prosaic; all to enhance character and action

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." This quote is a testament to the Salem Witch Trials and many incidents proceeding 16 that were mimics. Events like McCarthyism, Wenatchee, Washington, and current events with terrorism all have striking resemblance. The happenings all occurred in different times and places but the likenesses are hard to look past. The Crucible is a documentation of how history repeats itself.

In The Crucible Abigail Williams accused many innocent people of being witches. In 150 Joseph McCarthy had a similar role when he claimed the State Department had Communists working for it. Neither of the cases had any evidence to prove the accusations, but both caused quite a raucous. Abigail caused the town to perform a witch hunt, as did McCarthy with adding the theme of Communism. They both influenced their peers into believing false claims. In these situations, the question, "is the accuser always holy?" is monumental. These parallels are what lead Arthur Miller to set his play in the time of the Trials. He was trying to arraign McCarthyism, but at the same time, he proved how similar it was to Salem, 16. The circumstances of Salem in 16 could be mistaken for McCarthyism in 150.

The analogies between Salem 16 and Wenatchee 1 are apparent. In both cases, small girls manipulated people in to believing their words because of the lack in evidence. The reactions to the claims demonstrate fear overcoming reason. The police do not want any children getting raped; in turn, they start arresting without question. They abandon all morals and reason to be persuaded by a twelve year old. Ipso facto, without fact, plays an important role in the occurrence. They had no facts, other than the children's words, to rule anybody guilty. As one of the accused said, "We're guilty until proven innocent in this town." Of course, the adults had a big role, as they did in Salem. Many of the children, in both instances, were intimidated by their elders into false statements. The two issues were separated by ,000 miles and over three centuries but they are carbon copies of each other.

Recently, in response to terrorism attacks, John Ashcroft has put on a "terrorism hunt". This was another case of anxiety trampling reason. Homeland Security would rather arrest potential terrorists and have them turn out innocent than to take no action at all. In Ashcroft's perspective, the greater good of society outweighs the individual. They want to be proactive as opposed to reactive for the purpose of being better off safe than sorry. Although some innocent people may have been denounced, the necessary action is being taken to secure our nation. That is how the Puritans were thinking. Whatever it takes to rid the town of Satan should be done. Obviously, Ashcroft's actions can be a current example of past developments.

In all of the preceding manifestations, fear is a factor. Fear can cause many to do things they normally wouldn't. Each of the four episodes had different names and faces, but if you weren't watching closely, you might have interpreted it as a repeat. These events show you how humanity needs to pay more attention to history. As long as fear exists, society will continue to echo the past.

AIM

Cheap Custom Essays on Marble Chips / Hydrochloric Acid

To find if changing the concentration of an acid will increase or decrease the rate of the reaction when marble is dissolved in hydrochloric acid.

PREDICTION

When the concentration of acid increases, more gas will be given off faster. I know this from my trial experiments.

METHOD

Since I will be working with strong acid, I will wear safety goggles while conducting the experiment.

I will use Marble chips all of a small size. I can use a sieve to make sure they are all roughly similar size- about 7mm diameter.

The amount of acid I have decided on is 10ml. And so the amount of marble must be in excess - g.

I can measure the speed of the reaction by how much gas is given off. I can measure this in cm in a gas syringe. When the experiment takes place, I will take the reading every 10 second to get a good graph for the results. If the reaction goes very quickly, I will take the readings every five seconds.

To be sure I can rely on my results I will repeat he experiment twice or three times if necessary, because there is chance of inaccurate results for many reasons.

I learnt from the trial experiments that it is quite hard to start a stopwatch, pour acid and stick a bung into a boiling tube all at the same time, so I will get someone to assist me while doing so.

If the experiment goes on for a ridiculous time, I will cut it off. I dont think it is necessary to have the experiment go over three minutes, so I will cut it off then. Also, if the amount of gas goes off the scale I will stop it there.

It is important to keep the starting temperatures constant for all the reactions as this can affect the results by giving the particles more energy (and making it faster).

Analysis of Results.

From the experiment, I have found that an increased concentration of acid increases the rate of the reaction.

I think that the best way of displaying these results is by drawing a line graph. In it, I have used the average of the two sets of results. The pattern I can see is that when the reaction first starts, the reaction is fastest, from then on, the reaction slows. We can see this because the gradient of the curve is steepest at the beginning.

The cause of this curve is that at the start of the reaction, there is the most ammount of acid molecules that are colliding with the marble. (I can draw this from my initial hypothesis)

OBTAINING EVIDENCE

TABLE of RESULTS

Concentration of Acid. Time 10 0 0 40 50 60 70 80

0.5 15 0 5 8 0 4 6 7 8

0.5 14 8 8 41 44 47 48 50

1 8 48 58 67 7 8 7 100 105

1 0 40 54 64 7 81 86 1040 60 76 0 1008 55 74 8 1000 44 70 85 1100 6 0 110

4 7 115

4 0 65 87 110

During the experiment, I kept the starting temperature constant at degrees.

I stop watch to time the experiment.

I wore safety glasses.

Time is in seconds. Concentration is in morality..

I repeated the experiment twice to make sure my results were reliable.

Aviation Batteries are the power source for independent starting of aircraft engines & emergency backup in case of generator failure on board aircraft. Since these batteries are airbone, the batteries have to meet other conditions like ability to meet acceleration, vibration, shock, thermal shock (explained in chapter of this theses) etc.

These batteries are tested for airworthiness apart from electrical performance. There are several international standards are available which specify the airworthiness of the product. In India, the batteries must undergo

the tests conducted / specified by 'The Center for Military Airworthiness', 'Ministry of Defense Govt. of India' and 'Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

These tests are simulating the aircraft environment. These are expensive, time consuming and failure at that stage involves start the cycle from starting.

In order to provide tools for analysis at design phase, the batteries are modeled and the airworthiness tests are conducted mathematically, in the design phase, will help in optimizing the design.

The Mining Ways

In The Mountain, the Miner and the Lord, Harry M. Caudill does an absolutely profoundly superb job of describing life as it truly was for most coal miners whether they were white or black. To begin with coal country, located mostly within Kentucky and West Virginia, is simply over impoverished and cannot be described in any other manner. The coal mining areas were the poorest most underdeveloped areas to begin with and, as far as the U.S. goes, still are today. Life has never been easy, overindulgent, or flamboyant for the people in this area. Caudill does a perfect job of pushing this idea forth and describing the emotions of one man in particular so that we may know, as a new and unknowledgeable generation, what life really was like for some persons of the hardest working generation to thus far grace our country.

I believe the reality Caudill creates with his images is beyond compare. Throughout this short story there are many passages that take me straight to the rugged and beautiful coal mining country of Kentucky, and even beyond that to the poor desolate company towns during the unarguably most desperate time of this century. Caudill's passage "Now as he trudged along the rain-drenched street in the last light of the dying day Sam sagged beneath a new burden. As he turned and mounted the three wooden steps to his door he carried the only food he possessed a wedge of cheese and a five-cent box of soda crackers. The fire in the grate had dimmed to a mere handful of glowing coals that responded slowly when he knocked out the aches and added lumps of fresh fuel." I believe is one of his best and tells the life story of a mining man quite well (4). First of all it seems as if the small towns as a whole have the general character of being gloomy, depressing, and wet, and Caudill makes this evident with his description of the muddy street. Living conditions were inevitably poor, with most miners living in small wooden dwellings that were barely more than shacks. One can easily imagine a tiny and drafty all wood structure roofed with black tar paper and drenched with sooty rain. As one nears the end of the passage one sees what is clearly the worst part of being a miner during the depression. Unhappiness is abound and unavoidable, but our character Sam does a wonderful job of trying. He has next to nothing to eat and barely has a source of heat. Warmth and nourishment are two of life's blessings that we often take for granted, but Sam did not. The best part about this is that Caudill makes all of this perfectly visible and even somewhat tangible to his audience.

Caudill does a wonderful job with both ethos and pathos, however logos is not very necessary. Caudill grew up in this very area and was actually a personal acquaintance of Sam Hawkins. The story in itself is a very emotional one, but when added to Caudill's perfectly concise descriptions the reader finds himself in Kentucky. I do not know if any one person could have done a more accurate job of portraying the life of Sam Hawkins than Caudill, as he did through his imagery, pathos, and ethos.

"Playing Games with Customers"

Harvard Business Review

SUMMARY

Public loves computer gaming. Some big companies started to use games in their marketing, training, and recruiting tool kits. Car companies, for example, found that on-line games were a good tool to advertise vehicles. Fourteen percent of all orders for new Jeep were from people who played "Wrangler Rubicon" game that promoted this new model. Chrysler studied buyer's sector of women ages 4 to 4 by "Get Up and Go", "Cosmo Quiz" format game-test. The company also collected data, such as e-mail addresses and some demographic information, while intermittently displaying information about the company's cars when women played. Games can help build a dialog with consumers and collect all kinds of useful information. Nike, for example, stored information about colors that children liked to wear.

The interactive games also show that employees learn more from them than from the one-way didactic delivery of information. Nowadays Jeep and Dodge dealers study nuances of different four-wheel-drive systems by using Chrysler on-line game. As a result, they show a ten-time better retention rate than from reading a manual.

The U.S. Army is a good example for using games for recruiting. The first game "America's Army Operations" helped increase the response rate per day on their recruiting Web site to half a million. Commercial organizations such as Siemens started implementing incorporating games in recruiting tool kits.

COMMENTS

As the experience of several large companies indicates, on-line gaming can be successfully used in marketing, identifying consumer groups, and even in modernization of training possibilities. There are a number of advantages to on-line games over traditional marketing. First, on-line gaming can educate a consumer about a specific product without being too annoying or aggressive. Second, through on-line gaming managers can track consumer preferences. Third, consumers can hold their attention for new product for longer periods of time, than what they spend on watching a usual ad. In addition, game execution is relatively inexpensive.

How are all those effects achieved? A well known fact that a feeling of satisfaction a customer experiences while playing a game gets related to the company and its products. Managers should know about this effect and use it in product advertising and employee training.

In reality, there are almost no disadvantages of using on-line gaming. Managers, however, should take into consideration that due to competition the content of the games should be unique. I would suggest to combine on-line experience with real prizes or discounts. For example, if Nike promotes a new shoe design, using samples as real prizes for most successful players would solve a number of problems advertising of the actual product, tracking consumer satisfaction with the product, and advertising of the game itself. To summarize, there is a two-way process from the game to the product and from the product to the game. Unfortunately, this reciprocal relationship was not discussed in the article.

George Orson Welles is an American original and a cultural phenomenon. Welles was young, only 5, when he became famous and infamous. Welles was brash, arrogant, innovative, brilliant, a showman, and a magician.

Welles's creativity became apparent in childhood. In school, Welles would actually write, direct, and act his own plays, catching the attention of local newspapers who dubbed him a prodigy. When Orson was six years old, his parents divorced and his mother took him to Chicago, immersing him in the theatre and classical music. After his mother's unexpected death a few years later, Welles was sent to Todd school, where he would continue to produce plays. After graduating, Welles was sent to Ireland, where his father, out of disdain for his passion in theatre, hoped he would turn to painting. The plan backfired splendidly, as Welles found his way to the Gate Theatre. Welles eventually left for America, where he met John Houseman who, with Welles, began work with the New York Federal Theatre â€" a project formed with the WPA under the New Deal reformation. Here they produced the famous adaptations of Macbeth and Julius Caesar. Right-wing politicians began to protest the project, and their production of The Cradle Will Rock was overly leftist, and it was closed down by federal agents on opening night. Welles resigned soon after, and formed a new repertory company â€" the Mercury Theater.

Welles also became involved in directing and acting in radio broadcasts of the classics, particularly Dickens and Shakespeare. His most famous broadcast was The War of the Worlds which caused national panic among listeners who believed that the simulated news broadcast it featured was real. Though the broadcast was followed by critical press and threats of legal action (including one from H.G. Wells), it exemplified Welles's extraordinary abilities as a producer, the power of the mass communication medium of radio, and most importantly, it brought national notoriety to Welles himself.

In 1 Welles went to Hollywood. His first produced feature film, and perhaps his greatest, was Citizen Kane. Welles was fearless and flamboyant, even when William Randolph Hearst, the journalism magnate, campaigned to have Citizen Kane removed from theatres. Hearst, who saw a portrait of himself in the film, threatened legal action and delayed the film's release. Hearst's action had, however, given the film wonderful publicity. It was released in 141, in the week of Welles' 6th birthday.

Write my Essay on Orson Welles for me

Not only was Welles's subject matter controversial, the cinematic techniques used by Welles to illustrate the subject were also controversial and stunning. For example, low angle camera shots that revealed ceilings and made characters seem simultaneously dominant and trapped. Welles pushed existing filmmaking techniques as far as they would go, creating a new and distinctive film aesthetic.

Welles's career as a director was brilliant and erratic. His life was filled with unfulfilled projects, but as his peak, he was regarded as one of the greatest figures in cinema. Welles was similar to one of his most famous characters, Harry Lime â€" A â€cold war” character shrouded in â€mystery and deceit”.
