As the father of modern civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther king, Jr., is recognized around the world as a symbol of freedom and peace. Born on January 15, 1, King was the son of an Atlanta pastor. King also received the Nobel Peace Prize in December of 164. He was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama for participating in a march for which no permit was issued by city officials. On April 16th of 16, an imprisoned Martin Luther King Jr. began to write a response to a letter that was published in a local newspaper from eight clergymen. These men scorned Dr. King's protests calling them " unwise and untimely." Through his "Letter from Birmingham jail", King expressed his ideas and reasons for his actions. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham jail" conveyed a sense of tensions during the civil rights movement era. Martin Luther King used ethos, pathos and logos to express his ideas and thoughts in the letter.

King used ethos to strengthen his views in the letter. Ethos. Ethos is author's reputation, credentials and trustworthiness in an argument. In the second paragraph, King mentioned that, "I have the honor of serving as president of Southern Christian Leadership conference…"(841). By mentioning that, he has established his credibility to a greater extent. Through the first ten paragraphs King uses history to set up his credibility. Through quoting Bible verses and stories, he is able to convey to the Clergymen that he is virtuous and holy man. King said, "So I am Compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to Macedonian call for aid"(841). While establishing his virtuous nature to the clergymen, he also demonstrates his wisdom. He does so by quoting from many historical figures such as Socrates, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, as well as many other well-known leaders and reformers. He also shows a substantial knowledge of the laws. His core argument focuses on the justice, which is a God given right that he and his people were not receiving. This idea is supported through the use of court cases and historical situations that are relevant to his argument. This allows the clergymen to understand better from where King's argument grows.

Martin Luther King used pathos to persuade his readers. Pathos is a part of argument which touches the emotions of the reader. He continues to explain the cruel punishment and behaviors blacks receive and their reasons to demand change now. In the fourteenth paragraph, Martin Luther king explained described why Black's life as, "…you spend night after night in your car because no motel will accept you. Day and night you are humiliated by nagging signs; when your first name is "nigger" and middle name is "boy"….(845). King tried to put his readers into the shoes of blacks and the discriminations received, by using "You". He said that. for more then two centuries "Our forebears labored without wages; they made cotton …built the homes of their masters while suffering gross injustice and shameful humiliation-and yet they continued to thrive and develop. If the inexpressible cruelties of slavery could not stop us, the opposition we now face will surely fail"(85).

Martin Luther King uses logos to further strengthen his arguments. Logos is a logical appeal in an argument. Throughout the letter, King has established himself as well educated and well informed. He gave a very clear definition of "just and unjust" laws "Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distort the soul and damages the personality."(845). It gives a false sense of inferiority and superiority to the people in a society. King further argued ineffectiveness of bad laws by giving an analogy that, " If law and justice fail, they become dangerously structured dam that blocks the flow of social progress" (847). The analogy asserts that Bad law and order is to progress as a dam is to water. He also gave example of Hitler. He said that " Everything Hitler did was legal and everything Hungarian did in Hungary was illegal" (846) . According to Hitler's Germany, extermination of Jews was legal but unjust. He implied that segregation and discrimination against Blacks is legal but unjust. Martin Luther King strengthened his argument by logically clarifying a meaning of being an "extremist". He referred Jesus, Paul, Martin Luther as extremists motivated by "love, truth and goodness"(850) , much like himself.

King allowed his reader to gain an insight into his views and opinions through this letter. He based his letter on ethos, pathos and logos to convey and explain his views. She looked angry and distraught as the camera captures her reactions to seeing the house the way it is. The house is full of "dishes with rotting dishes" and syringes in the couches, with graffiti on all the walls. There is no room to move on the floor pilled with rubbish and obscure objects. The audience supports the lady, and feels for her when they see how upset and angry she is and further condemn the kids. There is a lot of angry rock music playing in the background of the story, which reflects on the kids' behaviour.

The Message conveyed through the story is that our cities are becoming filled with menacing, and destructing kids who use drugs and have no respect for our communities. The kids are implied to be dangerous and very unfriendly towards members of society. Lacrosse is a entertaining sport I like to play. Ive only played for

seasons, but I caught on quick and was soon scoring goals. In lacrosse you

need to know the rules before you play, just like any oter sport or game, the

equipment, and different skills and techniques to handle the ball and stick.

In this essay I will teach you four basic dodges you can do while playing

lacrosse. There are four dodges that I like to do, face dodge, roll dodge, split

dodge and finally bull dodge, are simple dodges anyone can do with a little time

and practice. If one can master these then that person will be on their way to

scoring goals in no time.

First someone interrested in lacrosse needs to get the equipment to play

lacrosse. All of the equipment is a lacrosse stick, including the shaft and head,

shoulder pads, rib pads, elbow pads, gloves, helmet, and a mouth piece. For

someone who is just starting to play I recomend buying only a stick and possibly

gloves so you can feel how to handle the stick while wearing lacrosse gloves.

The reason someone just starting out shouldnt buy all the equipment is because

lacrosse equipment usually expensive and if that person doesnt like the sport

then they dont have all the equipment put to no use.

The face dodge is probably the easiest dodge to learn and is also very

effective. After catching the ball from a teammate, the defense man is usually

going to play man-to-man, which is where he is right on the player trying to get

the ball out of the stick. As he charges out at the person with the ball, which at

the time is in his right hand, that person winds up to take a shot or fakes a pass,

both are done by pulling you stick slightly behind your head. Instead of passing

or taking the shot the offensive player then pulls the stick across their face

tucking it by their opposite ear. After it is done successfully, the player holding

the ball accelerates past the defense man on his left side to an opening for a

shot on goal or a pass to another teammate. This type of dodge is the most

common used by lacrosse players.

The split dodge is similar to the face dodge but instead of making the

deffense man think that the player with the ball is going to pass or shoot the ball

they are going to make him think that the offensive player is running by him on

one side. First the player with the ball runs to the defense man and takes a fast

plant with their front foot and fake going that way. So if they have the ball in the

right hand they fast plant their right foot when they get to a defense man. Next

they switch their stick from their right hand to the left in front of their face and

while accelerating past the defense man on the left side.

The roll dodge is very effective for the quicker lacrosse player. On the way

to the goal a player is feeling that the defense man is playing one of their hands

more than the other, lets say the right hand. This means that the defensive

player is checking his right side more than the left. As they feel this pressure

they fast plant their right foot to the left, front side of the defense man and turn

their back to the defense man. While the player with the ball is in the spinning

motion the player tucks their stick in between their legs keeping the head of the

stick close to their chest or stomache area. Keeping the stick close prevents the

defense man from hitting a players stick and knocking the ball loose. During the

spin the player must switch hands midway through the spin hoping to catch him

off balance then proceed to turn around him. This quick change of direction

should free the offensive player enough to either draw a double team or allow a

good shot on goal. To confuse the defense man more try doing this fake a few

times on him, but instead of turning to the opposite side you fast plant on,

change directions up. Rather than than fast planting on the right foot and

spinning right, fast plant on the right foot and begin to turn right but in mid-spin

turn back to the left. This must be done as fast as possible in order to catch the

defense man off guard.

Bull dodge, as its name suggests is for a player that has a size or strength

advantage over the defense man. There is not too much to this dodge, but

getting in close to the defense man and basically running over him. When a

player has the ball and is attempting at a bull dodge, first they should pull the

stick in close to themself and then lower their shoulder and avoid contact with the

helmet. One should never hit someone else with their helmet becuase it can

cause serious head or neck injury. Once one has knocked down the defense

man move in for a shot on goal. If the bull dodge is successful, the player should

back off of the defense man quick then attept another dodge or just get rid of the

ball.

A few things to remember about all these dodges is that they must be

done at full speed in an actual game. Lacrosse is a fast sport. An offensive

player should not go half speed through them because this will give the defense

man time to catch up with the offensive player after the dodge. If they catch up

to the player with the ball then that gives more risk for them to lose the ball. If

one wants to get these dodges perfect they must practice at them starting slow

by themselves, just to get the footing and stick positions correct, then moving at

a faster pace and eventually playing against a defensive player.

The murders were now big news and the police received hundreds of letters, by people who claimed to know or be the Ripper. Unfortunately for the police, all these leads led nowhere and after weeks or research, all accused produced alibis.

On the night of the double murder, Jack the Ripper crossed boundaries between two police forces, the Metropolitan Police Force (MPF) and the City Police (CP). At this time in history, there was immense rivalry between the two forces and evidence was not shared and sometimes even destroyed. On the 0th september, the murderer left a note written in chalk on a wall. When it was found, a CP officer was sent to guard it but a commissioner from the MPF came upon the note and wiped it out. If it was a clue, it was now gone, and therefore they could not be used to compare handwriting. Or it could have be false, leading to riots. The Jews in the past had been blamed for a lot of murders, as they were widely disliked and any mention of the killer being Jewish would have lead to riots, which the police did not want on top of trying to catch the killer.

Conclusion

It is evident that there were a lot of factors, which stopped the police from catching the Ripper. The nature of the killings meant it was for police to prevent them or catch the Ripper. This was not helped by the fact that their department was underdeveloped. The largest factors however, were the problems and errors, which occurred during the investigation. False information or leads meant police time was wasted, which prevented them from catching the ruthless Ripper.

Girls are always complaining about how boys wear their pants, how they do their hair, what cologne scent they are or are not wearing, what music they are listening to and a million other petty things such as these. moves back in with his grandmother. Richard grows up having to work constantly

just to make a few bucks to help support his family; and when he can, he

moves back to Memphis. After working at an optical company for some time, he can

finally send for his mother, Aunt Maggie, and his brother. Richard and his Aunt

Maggie planned to move to Chicago and to send for his mother and brother soon

after.

Setting The setting of the novel is in the early 100s in the deep south of

America. Richard and his family lives everywhere from Arkansas to Memphis.

George Frideric Handel was born in Halle, Germany on February , 1685. His name was originally spelled Georg Friedrich Handel. When people choose to revolt against their leaders, there are always many different factors at hand to lead up to such an upheaval. In the Yugoslavian revolution, Slobadan Milosevic was the unfair ruler. The people of Yugoslavia rose up against him because of a broken promise to have an election where the people could choose the next president, not the government. Milosevic figured that the election would win him the votes of the people, and another term in office. However, the majority of the votes went to the leader of the opposition, Vojislav Kostunica. Milosevic refused to stand down until there was a second ballot, claiming that Kostunica had not won by an outright majority. Kostunica had 48 percent of the votes, while Milosevic had 40 percent. The constitutional court said they would allow Milosevic to finish his term in office.

The Yugoslavian people did not stand for this unjust treatment from their President. The opposition gave Milosevic a deadline of 1500 hours on October 5, 000 to stand down. Kostunica supporters from all across Serbia closed in on the city of Belgrade. When 1500 hours came and went with no news of Milosevic's position or whereabouts, the crowds rioted. The parliament building was ransacked with parts of it being burned, and the formerly Milosevic-run television station was taken over, declaring Kostunica the new Serbian leader.

In France at the time of the Revolution, Louis XVI was not a very able ruler, and wouldn't get rid of the regulations and social structure of the Old Regime until it was too late. When Louis XVI came to power in 1774, France was very deep in debt and its people were suffering. Past rulers had spent large amounts of money on wars, and continued borrowing funds from the banks, with the National debt growing larger and larger by the minute. The Duma was appointed the provisional government, and while the majority of the people were glad to have Nicholas gone, the Duma had little support. Their power was limited by the Soviet, which was a workers and soldiers council. The Soviet demanded peace and demonstrations forced the foreign minister to resign. Lenin urged the Soviet to take power because it had a Bolshevik majority. On November 6, 117, Bolshevik workers captured government buildings and Winter Palace. The demonstration was almost bloodless, and it brought Lenin to power.

It is quite simple to see how a weak or foolish ruler can led to discontent and rebellion in society.
